THREADS 2022
These are photos from my threads 2022 collection "Products of Pollution" which consisted of four looks. Second-hand, recycled, and natural fabrics were used for this collection. A print depicting plastic litter was also designed for this collection. The theme for the show was "The Elements" and this collection won an award for 'Best Element Depiction'.
This collection tells a story of pollution and climate change starting with the brown skirt and top depicting the earth, progressing with the grey strapless bubble dress symbolizing a storm cloud, advancing with the button-down shirt with fishing net and green pants illustrating the beginning of pollution in the ocean, and finally ends with the printed set and canvas fishing net jacket which is the peak of pollution representing where we are today.
THREADS 2023
These are photos from my threads 2023 collections "Heal" and "The Price of Progress" which consisted of three looks each. "Heal" is a formal wear collection that was created in the Collection Development course and was changed for the fashion show. Draping and flat pattern techniques were used for this collection. It expresses the process of healing and how it relates to some plant/flower species in the way that they need wildfires to spread their seeds or to bloom.
"The Price of Progress" is a casual streetwear collection utilizing second-hand fabrics and adjustable/ multipurpose garments. It was created with sustainability as the main focus which is apparent through the use of fabric and transformable/adjustable garments. The meaning behind this collection is that steps toward sustainability are being taken, but it is because they need to be. Freedom has been taken away which forces creative solutions.
This collection was awarded "Best Construction".
